Color output devices: what you see onscreen is what you get in hand. (includes directory of manufacturers of color output devices): An article from: T H E Journal (Technological Horizons In Education)

This digital document is an article from T H E Journal (Technological Horizons In Education), published by T.H.E. Journal, LLC on October 1, 1992. The length of the article is 2253 words. The page length shown above is based on a typical 300-word page. The article is delivered in HTML format and is available in your Amazon.com Digital Locker immediately after purchase. You can view it with any web browser.

From the supplier: Recent technological advances have reduced the cost of color output devices to the point where they are affordable by educators. Output quality has also improved and there is now a wide variety of technologies to choose from. Plotters can handle a wide variety of media, from tracing paper to cardboard, using colored pens or pencils to produce the image. Some color photocopiers can now process computer image files to produce full color images. Other similar options are tri-level xerography, which can produce two-color images, and modern duplicators, which create their stencils from scanned digital images. Ink-jet printers are an inexpensive solution for color output, though somewhat slow. Wax-thermal printers are particularly suited to producing overhead transparencies, although glossy paper can also be used. Video printing makes a direct copy of the image on the screen. Dye-sublimation is a new, expensive thermal printing technology that can produce images of almost photographic quality.

Canon CLI-8M Magenta Ink Tank

Canon has poured all the Know How of its extraordinary history of developing innovative office machines into each of its copiers, printers, and networked office systems. The same superiority of design and manufacture goes into all of the Canon-branded consumable imaging supplies and parts for this equipment. Naturally, no one makes better parts and supplies for Canon products than Canon. Using genuine Canon parts and supplies is your best insurance against equipment damage, and possibly voiding your equipment warranty.
Customer Review: Canon CLI-8 Ink
Love the Canon Pro9000 printer and inks. The photos I print look just as good if not better than those from a “professional” printing lab.
Customer Review: Getting out those last drops…
These are well made cartridges and I’m very happy with the photo quality. Besides the high price and fairly small quantity, the only thing that bugs me is that the sensor says it’s empty when the main reservoir is empty. There’s still at least a couple 8X10s left in the absorbent material above the nozzle.
Someone once explained how you can use a piece of electrical tape to “fool” the sensor and get out that precious remaining ink. But I haven’t been able to do it on my Pro9000. I’d be grateful for any feedback–it’s a shame to waste good ink! “BUY NOW”

Customer Review: Canon iP100 Mobile Photo Printer
I purchased the Canon iP100 so I could have a small, compact printer in my travel trailer. This one fills the bill perfectly. Setup was easy and it worked right out of the box. Print speed and quality is excellent. The only flaw is that it occassionally feeds multiple sheets of paper at one time. Fanning the paper before placing it in the feel tray helps rectify this.
Customer Review: flawless transaction
The purchase of the Canon iP100 printer from Buy.Com through Amazon was quick, painless and at a good price. Thanks. “BUY NOW”
